Graduate Student (PhD) Positions

Project Title Description
Atmospheric Plasma Surface Polymerization of Implantable Thin FilmsPhD student will be responsible for operation and implementation of Atmospheric Plasma Instrument towards surface functionalization and surface polymerization of various polymers and biologics and subsequent in vitro and in vivo characterization. Plasma treatment on biodegradable thins films at atmospheric pressure allows novel applications of surface functionalization not available through low pressure plasma instruments.  We seek to apply novel coatings applicable for medical implants and tissue engineering substrates that will tune surface properties in regards to bioadhesion and non-adhesive properties.
